FAQS

  • Are you certified and licensed to operate?

Yes! I am a certified and licensed permanent makeup artist. I have received extensive training and certification in Blood Borne Pathogens as deemed necessary for tattoo artists by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It’s crucial that you choose not only a certified permanent makeup artist, but also a licensed one to ensure your health is protected!

  • Do I need to shave or wax my brow hair?

No! We shape your eyebrows as needed with threading, shaving and/or tweezing and choose a color pigment that blends seamlessly with your natural brows. If you have a lot of brow hair it may be useful to have your brows waxed several days before your appointment-but that is optional.

  • How are Microblading, Shading and Ombre Powder Brows different than a traditional eyebrow tattoo?

The most common type of traditional eyebrow tattoos involves the use of a lot of pigment and a block style brow, which leaves the client with a dark outlined eyebrow and no depth. These often fade to really unflattering colors. Fiame Fatale services leave the client with natural looking eyebrows that look real! Careful selection of pigment is chosen to give depth and shape so that the natural brow hairs and permanent makeup blend seamlessly. Note that everything we do looks natural, but all permanent makeup is still a tattoo. There are just dozens of techniques. Another difference between the two is permanent makeup uses pigment and tattooing uses ink. Ink has a base color of blue and green, so over the course of many years, the color will fade to blue and green. Pigment will fade to a lighter version of the original color.

  • What is the difference between Microblading, Blading with Shading, and Ombre Powder Brows?

    Microblading
This technique involves making tiny little lines in the skin with a hand tool and ink, resulting in an eyebrow tattoo that looks like hair strokes. This option shows a lot more skin than the other techniques, and for that reason, many people think it's the most subtle. Typically lasts 2-3 hours. Looks like hair strokes This technique typically fades the fastest More trauma to the skin over time, so touch ups should be minimal and spread over time Best for people with tight skin and small pores Better for people with dry and normal skin Not the best technique for people with extremely oily skin or people wo bleed

    Blading with Shading
This technique blends both hair strokes and shading into one blended outcome. First microblading is done, then another tool is used to provide a soft diluted version of color to fill the space between strokes. This makes the brow look fuller and slightly more pigmented than can be achieved with just microblading alone. Looks like hair strokes but with a lot more coverage Lasts longer than microblading Still some microblading, however hess is needed than with microblading alone therefore less touch ups needed, thus less trauma to the skin Best option for those with little to no hair, or large holes in their natural brows Better option for people with oily skin Not the best technique for people who bleed

    Ombre Powder Brows
This technique is done with a small machine that gently inserts pigment into the skin that looks very soft and misty. No hair strokes are placed, so the brow is fully covered with a light color, and little pigment is placed at the start of the brow for a soft look. This does not look like old traditional block brows! It's soft and pretty, like a light makeup fill.

    • No hair strokes are created
    • Lasts longer than the other techniques
    • Minimal trauma to the skin
    • Less touch ups required
    • Great for all skin types
    • Best option for people who bleed and who desire the most coverage possible

  • Who is a good candidate?

The simple answer is, anyone that wants to have full, beautiful brows all day, every day! That would include busy parents or business people who don't have much time to apply brow make up, active people who don't have much time to apply brow make up, active people who don't want to worry about sweating off makeup while working out or swimming, or any person who struggles with getting that perfect shape that the celebrities and YouTube makeup artists always seem to have. Other clients include those suffering from scarring, Trichotillomania, Alopecia, and Cancer, or other diseases and disorders that have led to natural hair loss. Fiame Fatale will do all the work for you!

  • Who is NOT a good candidate?

    • Taking blood thinners
    • Skin irritations near the area such as Sunburn or Psoriasis
    • Taking sun sensitizing medications (including but not limited to Retinol/Retin-a/vitamin A etc.) – these need to be stopped at least 2 weeks before the appointment)
    • Botox within the last 2 weeks
    • Accutane within last year
    • Under the age of 18
    • Diabetic
    • TB
    • Epilepsy
    • Heart Conditions
    • MRSA/STAPH Infection
    • History of keloid scarring
    • Auto-immune deficiencies
    • People suffering from severe acne
    • Pregnant or nursing
    • Viral infections or diseases
    • Vertigo
    • Chemotherapy patients will need to check with their physician and provide a doctor's note. People with conditions that cause them to bleed very easily (this impacts results).People with prior permanent makeup may not be good candidates for Microblading. This is determined by consultation

  • What should I do before my eyebrow procedure?

    • If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring or send few reference photos. You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so I can take into consideration the shape you desire.
    • If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 1 day before your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, I can remove them.
    • No Coffee or other stimulants
    • If You Have Any Questions Concerning Medical Conditions Please Consult Your Doctor Before Scheduling Your Appointment And Bring A Doctor's Note To Your Appointment.
    • If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.
    • I require my clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen and also to avoid sun sensitizing medications such as Retin A, Advil, Retinol.
    • Do not consume ANY alcohol for at least 24 hours prior your appointment. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
    • It is highly recommended that you avoid sun and tanning 2 weeks before and after your procedure. If you show up to your appointment with a new tan or sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

  • Does it hurt?

Every client is different and pain tolerance varies by client. Most clients describe the pain level as minimal and find tweezing and threading more uncomfortable. At Fiame Fatale, we use the best topical lidocaine cream available to minimize discomfort. That being said, this is a still a tattoo. You will typically feel some discomfort. Based on experience, we would describe the feeling a slight burning, astringent like sensation. Very tolerable and worth it!

  • What will my brows look like after my procedure?

Your brows will appear much darker for the first 3-5 days. This will gradually lighten during the healing process as the scabs heal. Redness and swelling may also occur.

  • What will be the end result?

Before the procedure, we will analyze your natural hair colors and match a pigment accordingly to ensure it blends well with your existing eyebrow and hair color. The end result pigment stays true to color and will only lighten over time. Your eyebrow tattoo will eventually look softer and have more of a "powdered" look. To keep the lines "crisp", for brows that are only microbladed. A touch up appointment is suggested every 6-8 months. Results vary with each client. If you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment or other medical procedures, please inform the technician that you have had a cosmetic tattoo.

  • What factors will affect my tattoo?

Sun Exposure: The sun will soften the look of your tattoo. Once healed, sunblock should be applied daily to prevent brows from fading as quickly.

The regeneration of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds.

The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold. This depends on the thickness level of the skin.

The choice of color: The choice of lighter pigments will fade much quicker than dark pigments.

  • How long does the procedure take?

The process takes approximately 2-3 hours from the moment you walk in the door to the completion of your beautiful new brows. The first hour or so is spent designing your new brows and numbing the area. There is no downtime! Occasionally, some clients will have some slight redness and swelling around the area which is very normal and will subside within a couple of hours. Most clients go on about their normal day when they leave their appointment.

  • What is the healing process?

Some swelling and tenderness after the procedure are normal and may last a day or so, depending on the client. Your new brows will appear DARKER, WIDER, AND SHARPER than the way they will heal. This is especially true for days 2-5. This is harder for some clients than others. Clients who rarely wear makeup may find that they don't like how their brows look on these days because they are too intense. That's normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin and has not yet settled into your face. As your skin heals over the tattoo, your brows lighten and soften. This process takes about 7-10 days or so on average. It’s important to follow all after-care instructions and to attend the required follow-up appointment to make the finishing touches to your new brows! Your healing is only about 50% in our control. Once you leave it's up to you to be diligent about following the instructions you're given to get the best result! And no matter how great they look, it's important to come for your touch up appointment to get the final result.

  • Will it look natural?

Absolutely! The techniques used at Fiame Fatale creates realistic, simulated hair strokes and/or powder fill that looks just like a real eyebrow! Your brows can be as big and bold or as soft and subtle as you like!

  • How long does the new and improved brow last?

This will vary by client. Microblading lasts anywhere from 12-24 months. Ombré brows and combination brows lasts 12-36 months. If aftercare instructions are followed diligently, your new brows will last approximately 2-3 years on average before they're mostly faded. For some people, their brows will last even longer, and some less. Please note certain factors such as sun exposure and tanning beds, getting chemical peels, oily skin type, bleeding, etc., will affect whether your brows will last on the ·higher or lower end of the expected 12-18 months and also some skin types hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We recommend one touch up per year to keep them fresh and a touch up 4-6 weeks after initial appointment to fill in any areas that have faded after the healing process. Coming more often increases the risk of scar tissue or causing your brows to look unnatural.

  • Are there some clients who cannot retain the pigment?

Yes, this does happen. Some people have highly effective immune systems that reject the pigment, and some just have highly effective skin healing. It's very rare, but it's important that all clients understand this is a possibility and in most cases, there is no way for us to know if this will take place prior to the work being done. Occasionally, we will recommend a third appointment to further touch the brows up if the client is retaining some pigment after the first touch up, however, anything beyond that would likely be too much for the skin and the client would likely not be a candidate for further permanent makeup.

  • What if my brows are fading faster than I’d like?

We will revisit aftercare and lifestyle to make sure that is not the issue. If not, it’s likely that you need to go darker and fuller at your touch up, and/or you are ready for a more full coverage, longer-lasting technique like powder brows.

  • WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE ?

Prior to beginning the procedure we go over paperwork and the design of your brows. I will discuss pigment color and a great shape brow for your bone structure. We take into consideration your ideal brow and combine that concept with your bone structure. The procedure won’t begin until the client and artist agree on the shape and design.

  • ARE TOUCH-UPS REQUIRED ?

Typically microblading/ombré brows/combination brows are a two-step process that requires one touch-up 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure. For some women with very oily skin, a third touch-up is required. After that touch-ups can be from 1-2 years.

  • HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE PIGMENT?

We only use high quality pigments and choosing the right pigment for each individual person is one of the more crucial aspects of Microblading. We want to make sure we take your skin tone into consideration, as well as your natural hair color and/or dyed hair color. Using the best quality pigments will make a drastic impact on the color of the pigment through the healing process as well as the 1-2 years that the Microblading results last.
